Research Intern I Serve Denton

Internship Description

Serve Denton, a 501(c)(3) community-based center, is seeking a paid part-time 20 hour-a-week motivated intern who is ready to apply knowledge of data analytics and research practices in a fast-paced, real-world environment.

The intern will assist the Director of Community Development in conducting research by canvassing rural communities and their social service needs. The intern will work primarily with the Director of Community Development under our Developer Management Services (DMS) program. The internship will be capped at 440 hours for the student to receive credit for the internship and is only open to Master of Public Administration graduate students. School schedules can be accommodated but must be available during specific times between the hours of 9AM to 5PM Monday-Friday.  

Intern Duties and Responsibilities

●      Assisting the Director of Community Development in creating data measurements and surveys pertaining to various projects.

●      Assisting the Director of Community Development in establishing a rural community program under the Developer Management Services program.

●      Coordinating trips to local communities to collect data.

●      Researching community-based centers and collecting supporting data.

●      Manage administrative tasks as assigned by a Serve Denton staff member.

Requirements

●      A passion for the nonprofit/public sector with an eagerness to learn.

●      Experience with Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel.

●      Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, data analytics and written/verbal communication skills.

●      Bilingual preferred but not required.

●      Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and exhibit initiative.

●      Professional demeanor, dressed business casual, and punctual.
