FAQs: How to Find Help in a Pandemic

Finding help should be easy…

Especially during a year like 2020.

That’s why Serve Denton has partnered with numerous local nonprofits to create a one-stop-shop that offers a variety of services to those in need.

Serve Denton is the largest nonprofit center in Denton County and one of the largest in Texas. It is a 4.8-acre nonprofit center located on North Loop 288 geared and ready to help you get the help you need.

The services connected to Serve Denton include:

  • Food Assistance

  • Healthcare

  • Financial Support

  • Women’s Support

  • Mental Health

  • Children & Youth

  • Legal

...and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Although Serve Denton does not directly provide these services, they do ensure you get connected to the right people, for the right services, at the right time.

In light of recent changes, here are the top 7 questions most frequently asked of Serve Denton:

1. Who do I contact if I need assistance?

While Serve Denton does not provide direct assistance, they are able to serve the community by helping them navigate the local nonprofit sector and assist them in finding the help they need.

You don’t have to be the one to sift through all the agencies–they do that for you.

For referral assistance or to find out more information about the resources available to you in our community, simply call their Client Navigator at 940-735-3234 or visit the Find Help Here page of their website.

2. Have your services changed due to the pandemic?

Yes. Just like everyone, Serve Denton has made several changes this year in order to keep both staff and clients safe. Although the West entrance lobby is currently closed to walk-ins, those in need can still receive assistance virtually by calling our Client Navigator at 940-735-3234 or visiting the Find Help Here page of their website.

3. Your lobby looks closed, but I have an appointment, how do I enter the building?

Due to the pandemic, the West entrance is currently closed. If you have any appointments, please call the nonprofit you are there to see and let them know of your arrival. They will let you in the building. If you get stuck, call Serve Denton’s Client Navigator at 940-735-3234 and they will do their best to assist you.

Remember, check the Find Help Here page of their website to get an updated list of all hours of operation during COVID.

5. Does each nonprofit that offices at the Serve Denton Center have the same office hours?

Each nonprofit associated with Serve Denton is a separate organization and therefore the hours of operation differ from agency to agency. To find a full list of each partner's office hours and contact information, please visit the Find Help Here page of Serve Denton’s website, or call their Client Navigator at 940-735-3234.

6. Can I call Serve Denton to schedule an appointment with a nonprofit agency?

Since each agency operates independently, and each has its own intake and scheduling process, Serve Denton acts as the referral agency to help get you connected to the nonprofits you need. They act as the connection experts to ensure you get connected to the right people to make scheduling easier, but the intake and scheduling of appointments are made directly through the agency providing the services.

7. Does Serve Denton work for all the nonprofit agencies listed on the website?

Serve Denton and each partner agency is their own independent nonprofit organization. Serve Denton is a nonprofit organization that provides affordable office space and other services where other nonprofits can work, collaborate with one another, and serve the community.

When a family falls on hard times, finding help can be overwhelming. And when nonprofits are spread out, it can be difficult to find the organizations that can help, let alone find the transportation to get there.

Let Serve Denton be your solution.

With their multiple nonprofit agencies on the same campus, those in need only have to visit one location to receive the help they need, making social services more accessible.

Getting help has been easier. Contact Serve Denton today and get the assistance you need.
