3 Reasons Giving to Serve Denton on #NTGD Makes Denton a Stronger Community
When you’re driving around Denton, what do you see?
You can’t miss the beautiful murals, historical buildings, and the hustle and bustle of a vibrant, unique town.
But you’ll also be hard-pressed not to find ample amounts of people in need – People lined up outside food centers, homeless men and women gathering on the streets, people getting evicted from their homes…
And here’s the thing…
Needs like hunger insecurity and homelessness are easy to see.
But there are so many other needs wreaking havoc in Denton County that you can’t see.
It’s for this very reason that Serve Denton exists and is participating in this year’s North Texas Giving Day campaign. (And if you give today, your donation will be doubled dollar for dollar!)
North Texas Giving Day gives our community the opportunity to build a stronger tomorrow for all.
North Texas Giving Day gives Serve Denton the opportunity to strengthen our nonprofit partner’s impact on our community to build that stronger tomorrow.
North Texas Giving Day gives you the opportunity to be the change you want to see.
And here’s the best part…
When you give today, your donation can be doubled dollar for dollar up to $45,000! Because of a generous donor, today you have the opportunity to double your impact on Denton County and double the amount of change made in our city.
Here are 3 reasons why giving to Serve Denton makes Denton a stronger community:
The Power of Serve Denton’s Colocation
Since opening in 2019, Serve Denton has been a place of refuge where help can be found for anyone in need. With 23 partnering organizations, the scope of resources that can be provided to the community soars high above the rest.
Food assistance, mental health support, rental/housing assistance, human trafficking rescue, health care, transportation, homelessness prevention, and legal assistance are just the tip of the iceberg of why Serve Denton is truly a one-stop-shop for help.
Take Daniela, for instance, who lost her job and her housing situation in the same week. She needed help with rental and utility assistance, as well as job resources–fast. With a young daughter depending on her, their stability was on the brink.
When Daniela came to Serve Denton, she was referred to onsite members Giving Grace and Texoma Council of Governments who were able to get her the resources and help she needed–all without having to catch a bus to another location across town.
With limited time and resources, Daniela was able to come to one building at one time and get the immediate help she needed.
And as she left Serve Denton, Daniela had a completely different disposition–her head was held higher, and her face flooded with gratitude and relief.
That’s the power of Serve Denton’s colocation in action.
Without the help of Serve Denton, Daniela and her daughter wouldn’t have had a roof over their heads.
But because of supporters like you, Serve Denton was able to get her the help she needed.
The Protection of Serve Denton’s Health and Safety Measures
The benefits of colocation don’t stop there.
If you’ve watched any of the news within the past year, you understand why ensuring security and safety (particularly in buildings where groups of social services are gathered) is absolutely critical.
Since the majority of the agencies partnered with Serve Denton work with high-risk populations, it’s our greatest responsibility to ensure the safety of our partners and the people we serve.
So in addition to the benefits colocation provides, Serve Denton members also benefit from our proactive health and safety measures.
Serve Denton provides a high sense of security and safety for partners and their staff. By providing an onsite security director, surveillance cameras, and key card access to secure the building, nonprofits can fully serve their clients without the added worry.
Our health and safety measures also provide trauma resources like active shooter training, trauma and first aid kits, AEDs, and continuous safety briefings.
Nelson Mandela said it best, “Safety and security don’t just happen, they are the result of collective consensus and public investment.”
And when you donate to Serve Denton on North Texas Giving Day, you get to be an integral piece of that invaluable investment.
The Partnership of Serve Denton’s Collaboration
The brilliant Henry Ford said it first, “Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.”
Collaboration is at the very heart of nonprofit centers like Serve Denton.
The intentional creation of Serve Denton’s space is specifically designed to promote the exchange of ideas through hallway conversations, communal lunches, and network events.
When two or more tenants come together (whether that be purposefully or spontaneously) they are set up for success and together march toward a common, mutually beneficial goal: making their services accessible to the people who need them most.
Serve Denton’s Chief Program Officer, Nora Douglas, says it this way, “I am committed to the goal of bringing nonprofits together collaboratively and strategically to better serve individuals in need.”
It’s a connection that gives people like Daniela the opportunity to work in conjunction with Giving Grace and TCOG… all in one location.
It’s a connection that gives parents the opportunity to feed their families through Denton Community Food Center while also getting rental assistance from Community Services, Inc… all in one location.
And with your help this #NTGD, that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Change for Change
The work of Serve Denton is only successful because of generous donors and supporters like you. People who see the value in contributing to the overall improvement of the community, bettering our County by serving one person at a time.
Because even the smallest amount of change can make the greatest impact.
Serve Denton is what it is, because of you.
Our community is what it is, because of you.
And you have an opportunity to greatly impact the community by partnering with Serve Denton on North Texas Giving Day on Thursday, September 22nd.
